Does anybody know anything about the 100mm Schneider Xenar F3.5 lenses? Specifically, I'd like to know of what lens design they are (I'm assuming Tessar), what shutters they're designed to go in (they're size-0, but what shutter has the correct F-stop markings?), and if they're any good (quality-wise)....

Thanks for the response, but I believe the discussion to which you refer involves the 105mm Xenar, whereas I'm interested in the 100mm.... Perhaps the same info applies to the 100mm as to the 105mm??

Great lens! The 100mm Xenar that I picked up second hand that has the last-type MXV Compur shutter and is labeled "Technika." I assume that this was the bottom-end lens for the Linhof 6x7/6x9 camera (the better lens was no doubt the Xenotar). I had S. Grimes c/l/a the shutter and mount it on an extra Century Graphic lensboard. I use it for 6x7 and 6x9 formats. It was sure an improvement over the 3-element Graftar! I was also able to realign the Kalart RF to this focal length (thanks to procedure on graflex.org). Another strange coincidence is that the focusing scale for the 101mm Graftar is and exact match for the actual focal length of the Xenar! Thus, when I loupe the ground glass at infinity and set the focusing scale, it also is dead-on accurate at 4, 8, 15 feet, etc.

I use the roller-type RH10 120 mag., for color, but still use cut film for b/w (Ilford still make HP5+ in 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 sheets) and of course sheet film does not have the flatness problems with roll curl.......

Re: the "strange coincidence", it's not so strange, but rather lucky for you. Graflex matched its focusing scales very carefully to the lens being used. The stated focal length on the lens is NOT necessarily the exact focal length. For that reason, Graflex had 5 different scales for 100mm and another 5 for 101mm.
