I can't seem to reach a combination of moves to make the left hand button lock the lens open. I've tried setting the button first, then cocking the lens. I've tried cocking the lens, then setting the button. I have found that the self timer button was a little sticky but eventually worked so maybe if I keep playing with the lens lock it will agree to do its job. Thanks for the info. I am headed to Boston with a group of 7/8 graders for a history tour. I think I'll take the lens along for pics of Cornwallis's cannon that he surrendered to the yanks in New York!
