: Also, is the solenoid you're talking about, the cylindrical one that is attached to the lens board? How are the two connected?
: Appreciate any help.

Ron,
Before you conclude your Rangefinder is "shot"
remember the main funciton of the rangefinder is to focus in normal daylight. The Rangelite focusing is a secondary function and not used on a regular basis.
1. Make sure the Front Standard is pulled forward against the Infinity Stops, make sure they are flipped up(the two little do-dads on either side of the Track the Front Standard slides on).
2. Check the Rangefinder under daylight with a test object at 8,10,15ft. See if the Focusing Scale is correct and that the image is in focus on the ground glass.
3. This should let you know if the Rangefinder is working properly.
4. The Problem with the Rangelite may be the location of/or the type of Light Bulb in your camera. It looks like positoning the bulb filiment is critical to get good spot images.( I am still trying to get mine working right, I will update you when I have a bulb to recommend and how to align it)

The Solenoid tripper, yes, it is the tubular device attached to the lens board. This is used to trip the shutter when you use a Graflite Flashgun. Normally, you use a Solenoid cord from the flash unit to the solenoid (one end of the cord has an AC plug and the other is a 2 pin plug, that goes into the two holes at the bottom of the Solenoid). When you press the Red Button on the FLASHGUN it would trip the shutter in sync with the flashbulb going off.
Les pointed out the my camera is an unusual(RARE) model that has a Solenoid cord coming from the Rangefinder to the Solenoid. This is not the norm, so on your camera you probably do not have a cord comming from the Rangefinder. Therefore, on your camera, the Solenoid should be connected to the Flashgun
: : Hope this helps.
