Hmmm. Entertaining.

Don't beat yourself up for not sending the lens to an expensive
expert at first - that's overkill for such a simple job. If you were going
to destroy $20 of tools, you should have just bought the proper one -
a spanner wrench!

If you can't find one locally, you can get them from
Ed Romney, Microtools or even Steve Grimes.
