: : : : I have a late model 4X5 Crown Graphic. What type / make of shutter release cable should I be looking for. Will any of the current brands on the market work, or should I be looking (as with so many accessories) for older "vintage" stock?

: : : Look at the cable socket. I suspect as new as your camera is it should have a tapered thread. If it does, then any modern release will work. If for some reason you have a lens that's much older than your camera then it will have a straight thread. Tapered cable releases will work but won't hold as well as vintage cable releases with straight threads.

: : Thanks for your quick reply. I hadn't noticed the attachment to the lense. I only saw the attachment on the finger release on the
: : right side of the camera. Would attaching to one be preferable over the other?
: I have a crown special and the body release never did work very well. I would suspect since you are putting a cable release to triger and onther cable to pull a finger to fire the lens, you would add a certain amount of lag between when you wanted the shutter to fire and when it did. In my case half the time the whole thing would hang.

: Unless you are working on a speed an rear shutter, I think its better to go directly to the lens.
