: : : I have a late model 4X5 Crown Graphic. What type / make of shutter release cable should I be looking for. Will any of the current brands on the market work, or should I be looking (as with so many accessories) for older "vintage" stock?

: : Look at the cable socket. I suspect as new as your camera is it should have a tapered thread. If it does, then any modern release will work. If for some reason you have a lens that's much older than your camera then it will have a straight thread. Tapered cable releases will work but won't hold as well as vintage cable releases with straight threads.

: Thanks for your quick reply. I hadn't noticed the attachment to the lense. I only saw the attachment on the finger release on the
: right side of the camera. Would attaching to one be preferable over the other?
I have a crown special and the body release never did work very well. I would suspect since you are putting a cable release to triger and onther cable to pull a finger to fire the lens, you would add a certain amount of lag between when you wanted the shutter to fire and when it did. In my case half the time the whole thing would hang.

Unless you are working on a speed an rear shutter, I think its better to go directly to the lens.
