: I have a Crown Graphic 4x5 with a 127mm/f:4.7 lens made
: by Kodak for Graflex, c. late 40's. It works great with
: b/w film. The problem is that I cannot get an accurate
: color balance when shooting chrome film with this
: camera. I have tried:
: 1)daylight film in daylight
: 2)daylight film in studio with tungsten light and an 80A
: filter
: 3)tungsten balanced film with tungsten light
: Each time I get the same result: a harsh yellow overall
: cast and slight underexposure(even though I'm using a
: very accurate meter that usually gives me no problems
: with exposure). I've tried all of the rules of color-
: correcting that I'm aware of. I've also had the same
: problem using color print film with this camera. Has
: anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know how
: to resolve it?
: Thanks,

As one suggestion, check the front of the lens for a filter mounted with a slip on mount, which can be covered if the lens hood is slipped over that, or, take off the lensboard and check that someone, the previous owner maybe, had a yellow filter mounted to the rear of the lens inside where you wouldn't see it because of the bellows.
Otherwise, the coated Ektar lenses have very good color correction; the uncoated Ektars and uncoated Tessars would have a slightly blue or coolish effect on film-easy to change during printing color negatives, and for transparency (chrome) film, a slight warming filter would take care of it.
There's some ideas for you to check. Good luck, Jim
