Hi, I am very new to the speed graphic world (i just purchased my first speed graphic yesterday) I have a miniature speed graphic that came with a number of slide film holders and a pack adapter. Firstly what does a pack adapter do exactly? and secondly what do i have to do to use 120 roll film?
I have heard about an adapt-a-roll what is that usually worth and are there any other options?
Can a Graflok back be retrofitted and if so where would be a good place to start to look for one? does it have to be a 2x3 or is the size universal?
Thankyou to anyone who can offer some advice.

| Film packs aren't made anymore. Sorry.
To use 120 film, you need a roll holder that can be attached to your camera. I believe that there were spring kits made for attaching Graflex-made roll holders semi-permanently. These things' disadvantage is that they make focusing on the GG impossible. But if your camera has a range finder, it is in adjustment, and you want to shoot only with the one lens, these are a option. I believe that directions for making one have been posted here, search.
A 2x3 Adapt-A-Roll 620 will work with your camera. Search this site, its discussed in the FAQ and on the helpboard. I don't know how much they're going for these days, this year's range on eBay has been roughly $45 - $100.
Yes, you can put a 2x3 Graflok on your camera. There's a Mini with a 2x3 Pacemaker Graflok on eBay, and I used to own one. It is a direct replacement for the camera's spring back. There's even one specifically for the Mini, with FP shutter sync terminal on the back. Not myths, I've seen some. As for finding a 2x3 Graflok with no camera, try Stephen Shuart and be prepared to pay more than you paid for the camera. By themselves, they're not cheap.
Good luck, have fun,

You did not say if you had a pacemaker Speed, if not you can use the newer backs, but the screw holes in the top will not line up and you have to relocate the holes, no biggy. I have seen the Graflok backs complete with hood bring over 100.00. Of course stupid me gave 50.00 for a spring kit. Russ |
