Not much going on here this summer is it? Well let me throw this out there. I was reading in my 1958 edition of Graflex Photography that a lens board was made for wide angles. It allowed you to move the lens around on the board, giving it a small amount rise/fall, and shift capability.

Has anyone ever seen one of these or have an idea of what they go for? I can't ever remember seeing on on ebay or at a show.

I saw one on ebay last century, I missed sniping it by that much! Haven't seen another since. It didn't go for much more than a standard board.

they wouldn't be difficult to make if you had a milling machine or were good with a dremel. It's just a fat "L" shape in the board with a backing board for keeping the dark in side the camera.

Wish I could find another one though.

I've heard of a "poor man's" variation on this theme: cut the hole in the lensboard slightly off-center. How much is "slightly"? Don't know for sure, never tried it, but I would guess maybe 1/4" (for a 65mm lens on a Century). By moving the board around in 90° increments you would get rise, shift/R, fall, and shift/L. Used in conjunction with the limited movements on the Century this would extend those capabilities somewhat, as determined by the coverage of the lens.

It's a nice idea buy the Graflex engineers in the infiniate wisdom did not make lensboards square at least for the Pacemaker series. And I've got a board set for a 90mm Angulon with a 1/4 inch of shift instead of rise. Good for verticals, but never had the money for two 90mm lenses.

The mini speed needs a beveled edge the 2x3 pacemakers do have square boards but dont have the dimples and I'm not sure you'd get much rise considering the what the front standard is made.
