I just bought a Graflex 250 flash and the 510 volt battery is dead. I would like to know if there are any rechargable batteries that will work in it. At $90 a pop for a regular battery...it could get a little expensive. |

Adorama has Sunpak 510 Rechargeable for 79.95 and you will need a Qbc-5 charger 31.95. I Also have 250 and Vivitar power pack that take 510 volt battery but have not taken the plunge. By the way, B&H has 597 for 69.95. Russ |

To millbreaux:
I'm not sure if the Sunpak Ni Cad 510 VDC Rechargeable Battery will work in the Graflex 250RG Case, I don't have one to verify this, but it won't work in my HV case as I had a Sunpak RG 510 VDC battery and Sunpak powerpak laying around, and it has the usual (+) and (-) contacts on the top, but it also has a double sets of metal contacts to the right of the (-) contacts that mate with a double set of "spikes" inside the Sunpak 510V Powerpak and while the Sunpak will take my PF-497 HV Battery, it will also accept the Sunpak Ni-Cad battery that I have, but the Sunpak Ni-Cad battery will not work in my 250HV case.
I hope this makes sense and perhaps others can elaborate on their findings with these units.

You are probably right as I have not tried the sunpak rechargable but both the 250 and vivitar only have one set of contacts 1 and 9/16 inches on center. I wonder what that 2nd set of contacts does on the sunpak rechargable. In that case you stuck with using the 497 on the 250. You might be able to add a 2nd set of contacts in the 250 board and tie them into the other contacts, that way the power would end up correctly on the cable to the head. Russ |
