|
|
Looking for a bit of insight into my M1907/M1913 Military Sketch Kit I am trying to complete - reasonably successful so far.
It came with tripod legs, but no tripod head. Good News - I have sourced a head from an auction site, Bad News - the rather unique military attachment screw has been converted to 1/4x20!
I have a few ideas to work around this but am hoping for assistance with
- As I look for parts on-line, what size "Folmer" head would this be called? it is 4.5" across, and I have seen here in the HELP section that it is a #2?
- I will be going to the hardware store today to try and match up the threads on the board to a size. Does anyone know or can measure the thread size on the military attachment screw
Thanks for any insight, opinions, comments, etc.

Well - some days are much better than others - this was ONE OF THEM!
At some point I realized the easiest solution to matching up the modified bolt at 1/4x20 to the table was installing a 3/8x16-1/4x20 adaptor! A-Zon comes through with an inexpensive stainless adaptor MIC.
I figured I would be needing to file down the edges of the adaptor to fully recess into the table - BUT - the tripod/table interface has a slight recess - and WOOHOO it fits nice and tight without any further effort on my part.
And - I will not be adding Loctite of any type, but maybe some teflon tape if needed for some tightness as this will NOT get a lot of use!
