For both the Graphex #2 and the Copal #1--is this cable release suitable:

More to the point: are some threaded connectors conical while others are straight.

We inserted the connector into the Graphex lens release--naturally, it seats only so far...is this acceptable?

Both types work. Where did you find new cable releases with straight tips?

Dan, the threaded connector for the electronic shutter cable release on my Minolta cameras is straight. Obviously, this definitely does not work on mechanical shutters, as it simply closes the circuit when the button is pressed on the other end of the cable. Both the straight and conical (mechanical) types fit the receptacles on the cameras, which look like all other ones of the type that I've ever seen, but evidently there are unseen internal differences that enable the electronics on camera shutters so equipped. Whether or not this is what the OP is referring to I can't say.

[Later}---OK, the above demonstrates (once again) that reliance on memory is ill-advised. So I got off my lazy *bleep* and actually looked at my Minolta electronic-shutter remote cable, and the male end *is* tapered, just like the mechanical shutter release cable.

Now, what was the question again......?

As long as a cable release screws in a minimum of 3 turns and its plunger operates the shutter then all should be good.
