hello
A beginner asks about adjusting shutter speed on the Graphex 1 shutter (f/4.7 135mm, Pacemaker Speed Graphic)...
The ring adjusts just fine from red 'T' all the way up to 200, then balks at moving to the last setting of '400'...
Might we have another setting 'in conflict' with that highest shutter speed, or is it a shutter malfunction issue?
thank you

Shifting up to 1/400 is always more resistant because the mechanism adds more spring tension (don't ask me how---but I think that another, stronger spring is engaged). So unless you encounter a really "immovable object" going up from 1/200, don't be shy about giving the speed setting dial extra torque. Needless to say, don't force anything---you'll have to use your best judgement about that. Good luck!
(BTW, for the record, that 135 lens is usually installed in a Graphex no. 2 or 3 shutter; the no. 1 is the smallest, used for the 68 and 101 Optars, among others. This has no bearing on your original question, though.) |

hello
How would I confirm, then, the actual Graphex shutter model? It may very well be the case that it is not (as thought) a #1 shutter. What are the clues to the other shutter models?
thanks again!
