|
Has anyone had success using glasses that are magnified, for adjusting focus, using the GG?
Background:
Using a different Lens, one that is not adjusted for RF, and trying to hand hold the camera, while trying to get a good focus, without a 10x lope and a tripod, is difficult to say the least.
Even more so with my bifocals on. |

Try reading glasses. Not so good for me, though, because I have astigmatism. |

You have to be about 12 inches from the ground glass with reading glasses. I use a 1.5 power (my normal) with a 2 power on over the 1.5 for higher magnification but that is not as good as a loupe. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |

Ok, that verifies, what I thought.. I tried my wife's reading glasses and had to be back quiet a way, thought there might be something else that someone has tried.
Next ... hmm, a lope glued to a set of clear glasses on one eye, and the other free with just the clear glass .. so as to see normally, to set the lens.
.. Ha..ha..ha I'm laughing so hard.. you take your head away from the GG, as there is someone who is asking what kind of digital camera is that?
They take one look at you, and off an running are they, thinking your an alien.. |

If you already wear eyeglasses, you might try the little clip-on magnifying lenses that I've seen at model railroad shows. They're made for close-up work with small parts (like those pesky little no. 1, 0, and 00 screws/nuts), but they may also work for focussing, though I don't own such a lens and thus have not tried one in that application. |

Charles, the reading glasses I use with my little Graphics are 4.5 diopters. Eye-to-ground glass distance is around 7 inches.
As I said, they don't correct my astigmatism. As I didn't say, another reason they give me headaches is that my two eyes aren't equally weak and require different corrections. |

Dan, after a few weeks of straining my neck I put the $350 bifocals in their case, put the case in a drawer, and got some reading glasses equal to the lower portion of the bifocals, the top section was plain optical plastic.
I may get a pair of higher power reading glasses one of these days. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |
