Is the finish on the external surfaces (especially the back) supposed to be shiny or dull? Reason I ask is on the back surface (especially the raised surface where it contacts the holder in the camera) is very dull but some polish makes the surface shiny. If the dull finish is intentional then it is very thin and fragile.

Shiny !

Turns out after cleaning the 2'nd grafmatic with Simple Green the surfaces (especially the back plate) turned out to be shiny.

Using some alum. polish on the internal guides and the external rails had both units doing the shuffle very smoothly. An amazing device.

I did not realize one should put the dark slide back in when taking the image, that is a nice feature. Took 12 shots the wrong way but I suspect no harm - no foul.

FYI Meguiar's Supreme Shine is good on the camera vinyl and on the polished surface of the flash. It does not dry out and get sticky, but brings life to the vinyl. Eventually it dries out and the vinyl goes back to a duller finish. The bowl of the flash has a polished feel to it and small scratches disappear and it seems the blue tint gets a bit deeper.

Use caution when using petroleum products on cameras. Oils can migrate onto areas where it is harmful, attract dust, or migrate onto the film.

I am certain all the cleaning products used so far do not have any petroleum. Be that as it may, thanks for the tip.
