|
|
Firstly, apologies if this is in the archives but I've had a good look and can't find the exact answer!
I picked up a nice spring-back 2x3 outfit a couple of years ago and since then have been looking out for a spring kit kit in order to fit a roll-film holder. Nothing has turned up. Now I really want to get the camera into commission and I'm wondering if I can do some (reversible) engineering in order to fit a roll-film back by some other means than using a spring kit.
While I'm at it I suppose that I should ask for recommendations on which type of roll-film back would be best to try this with. I've looked at what has been on sale in the UK (not much) and finished up more confused! I'll probably have to source the back from the US, as there seems to be much more on offer (as one would expect).
Would appreciate any help.
Regards,
Pete. |

If you use a spring kit (purchased or cobbled up) to attach a roll holder to your 2x3 Speed you'll lose the ability to focus on the ground glass. This will limit you to using one lens and focusing with the range finder, which will have to be set up for the one lens before the roll holder is fitted to the camera.
Consider using a 2x3 Adapt-A-Roll 620, which slips in like a cut film holder. |

Using the site search function, selecting "all the terms" for key word "spring kit" I only got results going back a few years but one of the posts had a link to the answer I was looking for.

Thanks for the tips guys; I think I've seen an Adapt-a-roll once, years ago. I'll keep a look-out.
The roll-back which seems to come up ******* more than anything else here in the UK is for the Mamiya RB67; a fairly modern device, compared to my 2x3(!) I'm wondering if I should get one of these and fabricate the mounting kit to fit. I'm reasonably confident that I can make a mount which will fit to existing holes in the body; it would be a crime to do anything which is irreversible.
I've looked at a couple of "vintage" backs but the plastic seems susceptible to age-degradation (just like myself!).
Thanks again,
Pete. |

hey taylorpjuk
the RB67 do work BUT they don't a 6x9 !!
they do have 645 , 6x6 & 6x7 and maybe a 35mm Pan
you can make a clamp to do what you need I use brass strap you need 4
of them 10mm or so x 20mm or so two of them need 2 holes one in each
end the other two only needs 1 hole in one end & a L bend at the other
end next two screw & two thumnuts
to use you take off the springback & leave the springs og the groundglass
you take the two holed ones put the screw that held the spring in place
in one end & put it in place of the spring next you put a screw in the other
end Now then you put the other one holed peace on with the L bend down
& then thumnuts
Now you can put the groundglass back in place & clamp it down
Next you can take it off & put in the Rollfilm holder & clamp it down
AND you can still use sheet film holders under the groundglass
