Yup, my early Singers have a silver colored wind lever with the notation panel on top instead of on the carriage like the General Precisions. |

I have two roll backs-#1 RH-10, SINGER, date code M2A, black aluminum? lever, notation spot on center of lever hub, textured surfaces top & bottom, shell marked GRAFLEX/SUBSEA, no date mark, alignment lugs so that roll holder goes in one way, darkslide flush with edge of base.
#2 RH-10, GENERAL PRECISION, date code F0E, blue plastic lever, rectangular notation spot left of winder dial, smooth surfaces top & bottom, shell unmarked, but matching date code F0E, blue dot by darkslide, no alignment lugs, darkslide extends 1/2" past base edge, no grip, just a hole, black on one side.
I found someone locally selling a SINGER RH-20 (no base) for $50-is it possible to run 120 film in a 220 back? That would provide more options out in the field.

For a while Graflex marked the 6x7cm cases as RH-10 and RH-20, so that would lead you to believe it's not only possible but Graflex approved.
but I did find a single statement in Tim Holden's personal notes that said they weren't. But no indication of why. I suspect film flatness as the 220 doesn't have the paper backing, but it could also be any number of other things. _________________ "In order to invent, you need a good imagination and a lot of junk" Thomas Edison |

hey all
minty brands of cameras take 120 or 220 ! 220 film is thicker then 120 & stronger
as you are pulling on it not the paper like 120 ! I use 120 in my RH20 all the time
as of yet to see any problums in doing it!
as to using a RH 10 shell with a RH20 insert it works & so does a RH20 shell with
RH10 insert.

I checked KODAK & ILFORD and neither one lists 220 film-whatever is out there in the stores is it. I may still pick up the RH-20, as it appears to have less mileage than either of mine.

I went back and scooped up the RH-20 back-even better than I had hoped! In its original box, with an extra MIL-SPEC type label. date on label (8/75) matches date code (H5A). felt on pressure spring shows no discernable wear, and empty spool is metal. My guess is maybe 1-2 rolls thru it, if that much. Now I have a spare in case my other backs die.

So what would happen if you ran a roll of 120 through a 220 roll film back? |

hey
it works fine for me I do it all the time the presser plate is spring load !
the 220 film is thicker then the 120
SO 120 + paper is about the same thickness as 220 film
as long as the film is up tight your good

And you run out of film at frame count 10 instead of frame count 20. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |

Um, right. I was wondering about frame spacing, and I should have asked that specific question in my previous post. |
