|
|
Hello. I've got a super graphic that came without an optical finder. I wanted to start using it handheld, so I managed to track down an optical finder to mount onto it (not much of a fan of the wireframe). The finder came with the mounting plate, but unfortunately no screws. So my question is, does anyone know what size of screw thread these screws have? If someone has a super graphic with the optical finder, could they have a look at the screws for me? If there are any engineers out there with a thread gauge, even better... |

From the Optical Viewfinder manual while Graflex was a division of General Precision
part number 100-4-L; description: screw-machine.
Measured:
Diamater: .1075 inch, 2.73mm #4? in U.S. terms
Length: 1/4 inch, 6.35mm (from base of head to tip)
Type: Flat head
Thread Pitch: 40 tpi (threads per inch)
If no mount holes exist use a #43 drill to make the hole then tap with a #4-40 tap.
A #43 drill is .0890 inch, 2.2606mm, in diamater. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU.

Do you have a screw sizer?
I measured with a digital caliper and a screw thread guage so we agree on the tpi.
I used http://www.engineersedge.com/tap_drill_chart.htm and
http://www.engineersedge.com/drill_sizes.htm
saw that a #39 drill was .0995 and assumed .1075 to be a #5.

hey
some times this charts can be hard to read my Starrett pocket card I need a magaglass
to even see it some times
and it shows a #43 drill { .0890 } to use for a 4-40 tap my 4-40 screw it's .108 with my digital caliper so I got to thanking that I have not check it for some time with a stand & so then I
got out my Starrett mikes . check the screw with it and also got its 1" stand & check both
my mike & my digital caliper and they both are still reading good
BUT some times it pays to double check thing from time to time
the { http://www.marfas.com/machinescrewtapping.shtml } chart shows that the
Major Dia. of a 4-40 to be .1120 but almost of the screws that I check
were only .108 but that our Quality we get now days
