Hello,
I found a Speed Graphic that I am thinking of purchasing. But the information about it is very dim.
Here is a picture of it
I know the same guy is selling two "23" filmbacks aswell. So I assume they fit the camera.
The information about the camera reads roughly translated, "Speed Graphic. Lens: Voigländer APO_LANTHAR 4,5 10,5cm Synchro-Compus-D shutter. Kalart Synchronize Range Finder. Note: there is no faults with the camera. Used recently."
What I want to know is what size of film (i want a 4x5) and what production year this camera has. Also if you see something odd about it. This is my first Graphic, and want it to go as smooth as possible. They do not turn up very often where I live and the shipping from other countries usually is as much as the camera itself.
Thanks in advance for any help.
PS. Excuse the bad English. _________________ --

Zewrak;
I can not be certain from the photo but I think it is a 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" Pacemaker Speed Graphic. I also notice that it does not have the tubular optical viewfinder but does have the shoe to mount that viewfinder.
If you want a 4 x 5 make sure that it is that size before you purchase it. If the serial number is available most of the 700xxx Speed Graphics are 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" size.

Judging from the size of the Kalart relative to the camera case, I agree with C. Henry that its a 2x3. Further evidence, though not conclusive, is the 10.5cm (105mm) lens, "normal" for 2x3. |

Definitely a 2x3 Pacemaker. Look at the body release location. Compare that with the body releases' on a 3x4 or a 4x5. As with the rangefinder (not always installed) they are progressively further from the bottom of the camera as the size goes up. The 2x3 is the easiest to identify because the release is almost at the very bottom.

Thank you everyone. I guess the lens could be worth it. I see those sell for alot more then the camera is up to now. In europe I seem to only be able to get hold of 2x3 film in one place (of the ones I usually shop at) and thats the ADOX 100. But to be honest, I think if I am going to use 2x3 I might aswell stick to the Rollei until I get hold of a 4x5.
Appreciate the help.
PS. The english get worse, the older you get. :/ _________________ --

Yes the Apo-Lanthar is a cult lens, though I'm not certain the performance matches its mystique.
And yes, I would stick with a Rollei for 120 film.
My opinion, buy this on your ability to turn around and sell it for more because of the lens, but wait for a 4x5. _________________ "In order to invent, you need a good imagination and a lot of junk" Thomas Edison |
