Many of you probably have a Focuspot that came with your anniversary speed and like me, found that it didn't work too well. Well I have good news for everyone! I've come up with a mod that makes it brighter and more accurate.
The first step is to find your self a cheap laser pointer that runs on 3 button cells. Disassemble it and keep intact the brass lens and diode assembly as well as the attached electronics that regulate the current. Solder 2 fine wires to the positive and negative contacts.
Now take apart the focuspot removing the condenser lens in the mount and take out the springs that contact the bulb, saving the screws. connect the wires to the contacts using the screws. Wrap the brass lens assembly with electrical take until it fits in the barrel and slide it in.
when you connect the cord from the flash you have to observe the polarity, it won't work with it reversed, and the circuitry protects it if it is hooked up backwards.
Now the rangefinder gives out 2 focused pinpoint dots that really help in focusing. I'll post pictures when I get a chance. |

Your's is not the first suggestion re: lasers. We're always happy to see your efforts, though. Do a search to find previous postings on this subject. I remember them, but can't point to one right now. |
