Thank you all for the information.
I managed to remove a decent amount of grime from the rails with rubbing alcohol. I think there is something on the GG or fresnal glass. On the lower left corner, there is a black smudge or something.
I checked the maintenance manual I bought and it mentions it is possible to remove the ground glass for cleaning. It is not completely clear to me how to do this. The manual linked here has almost the same directions, as mine just some of the numbering is different. I'm having trouble moving the slide locks, they don't seem to want to budge. I'm guessing I need to use WD-40 on them.
The manual says to remove self taping wood screws. How to remove the glass is still vague to me.

Just pop off the focussing screen shade hood and you'll see the two clamps that hold the ground glass and fresnel in place; they are also the clips that hold the hood.
Clean the GG with windex and use mild soap and warm water on the plastic fresnel screen. I use a veryfine plastic polish on the smooth side of the fresnel to remove small scrathces and it usually comes out a little clearer. But just clean it for now should do well.
When re-assembling, the fresnel goes in first with the smooth side facing the lens, the grooved side facing aft towards the GG. The GG goes in rough side forward towards the lens with the glossy side aft towards the back.
The slides locks can be easily removed, cleaned polished and replaced. They should require no lubing. Depending on the production run, there may be thin shim whashers beneath the slide lock bars. Sometimes they are supposed to be there but have been lost by previous folks taking the camera apart. Absence will of course then cause the bars to slides improperly, but not impossibly. The screws should be machine screws, not tappers.
For the Graflok back, and spring loaded locking arms, you can read my recomendations and opinions about them here...

Thank you once again! I removed the glass and fresnal and gave them both a good cleaning. The black gunk I saw is now gone and the image on GG is much clearer. I'll attempt a deeper cleaning on a weekend when I'm more awake.
