My "new" RB Tele Graflex seems to have it's curtain stuck on itself - almost like the curtain material has glued itself together. What to do? |

It is stuck at 1/8, tension at 1 and the curtain is closed. |

Verfiy the following:
Mirror lever H is in the rear most postition.
I/T slide on the pivoit of mirror lock lever H is at I.
Front Standard/focusing rails are foward of full closed at least 1/4 inch.
If the shutter does not trip increase tension to 4 or 5 and try again.
Try winding curtain as it amy have gone past close after O to indicating 1/8 in window when it is is actually fully closed or the curtain is fully wound on the tension roller.
If known that the curtain is wound on the top roller, trip shutter with tension on 3 or 4, turn clockwise on wind key gently to encourage curtain past hung position. The area for the curtain is very small and there is little room for any flaw in the curtain or bends in the time slots metal edges. (my RB Auto 1/8 metal edge hangs on the housing from time to time). Remove the back and pay attention to what length screw goes where, you will have to rotate the back to gain access to all the screws. (Short 1/8 inch long flat head on the top and bottom edges, oval head on the sides). With the shutter in the trip state, slide your fingers under the curtain edge at the back opening and gently pull down on it. Do not continue if you hear a tearing noise or pull hard enought to tear the curtain. Saturate the top roller and curtain with Lemon Pledge ( a US made funiture polish that contains lemon oil and is for use on vinyl, leather and wood and contails no harsh chemicals) and allow to sit for several minutes to an hour and try to get the curtain to move again.
