Edit - nevermind. I finally found a manual and I see that the electric part wasn't in the shutter, but in a separate solenoid. The connection to the lens was mechanical.

---------
I have side-rangefinder Pacemaker Crown to which someone has added the Graflex 1000 shutter and board from a Super Speed. I'm thinking I might like to try to get the electric shutter to work since the regular body shutter release works so poorly.

Can anyone supply a schematic and tell me where the correct contacts are on the lens board? I would think I could hook up a small switch somewhere on the body. Does the shutter really require 22 1/2 volts?

Thanks in advance,
juan

Juan,

I have good news and bad news...

The bad news is that your 1000 shutter is NOT electric...

The good news is that your 1000 shutter is NOT electric...

It's a fairly standard mechanical shutter. You cock it by turning the large hood to the right. Then fire it normally.

The Super did have an electric release, but it had nothing to do with the shutter itself. There is a solenoid inside the front standard. When triggered, it pulls down that arm that you might see on the inside of your lens board. This comes through the front on the board, connected to an arm and linkage, that pushes down the mechanical shutter release. And no, it doesn't take 22.5 volts. It's 45 volts, the two batteries were in series.

In case you haven't noticed, this is almost identical to the old solenoid/flash shutter firing on all the older Graphics. All they did with the Super was hide the solenoid and use exotic lens boards instead of the simple front mounted linkage on the older ones...

Now if somone had replaced your entire front standard with one from a Super, you might be able to rig up some kind of wiring to use the electric release. I have no idea where you'd stick the two batteries or run the wires, but the wiring itself would be pretty simple as it's just the two, Pos & neg, to fire the solenoid...

One more thing. Do some searching on the forum for the 1000 shutter. Don't use it on 1000 and treat it gently...
