I would like to see an image gallery on this site. That would make the site so much more vital and convincing for anyone using or contemplating using Graflex equipment. Categories for cameras, lenses, film, etc. would be very educational, and would prompt
other Graflex owners to pull those beauties off of the shelf, or out of the basement, and shoot. Does anyone remember the old Photography Annuals with the amazing photos and all the pertinent info in the back? |

Image galleries do shoot up the bandwidth usage in a major way. I think Sean Ross said that on apug.org, when the galleries were open, they accounted for 80% of the bandwidth, even though the discussion forums are generally considered the main content, so the galleries were made "subscriber only." A standard APUG subscription is $24 per year, $12 for students and low-income subscribers (on the honor system), more for those who want to contribute something extra. |

I think $24 per year is reasonable. You'd have to take into consideration the current user population of this site without photos.
With photos, I believe it would grow, driving
per-user costs down. No student/senior discounts - just a straight fee for all.
Hey, how about adding advertisers like, B&H, Calumet, Adorama, Grimes, etc. I've patronized
them all. |

I haven't seen the figures, but my sense from Sean is that on APUG most subscribers pay the standard rate.
The reduced fee is mainly for people who live in parts of the world where per capita income is extremely low when converted to US dollars or another Western currency. |

| Look, if you want photo.net, use photo.net. If you want apug.org, use apug.org. IMO graflex.org is fine as is.
This is a narrowly specialized board and I like it as it is. This is a place for sharing knowledge, not for showing off mainly crummy photos. The nearest thing to graflex.org, but with a store attached and a somewhat broader scope, is http://www.galerie-photo.info/forum/ . There are pictures there, but embedded in very useful and usually quite good articles, not posted randomly by show-offs.
I believe the people running photo.net and apug.org are on treadmills and don't see what incentive Leigh has to get on one himself.
If you want a Graflex-oriented board with photo galleries and all that crap, put your money where your daydreams are and set one up yourself. But before you do ask Sean and whoever runs photo.net about their costs. |

Lol Dan. You don't mince words
Perhaps the idea of a image gallery for Graflex users isn't to show off. Sometimes Graflex users are curious as to how certain lenses work, or how other photographers use them. I enjoy looking at others' photographs, particularly snapshots; particularly people I know. Although I do like the specialised and pleasant nature of this board. In contrast, the personality disputes plastered all over other larger forums tend to render other forums inimical for use for me.
