Just got a badly corroded Pacemaker speed. Everything was frozen on the rear shutter. The bottom roller was corroded to the bushing, took everthing apart and fixed the problem. Now on reassembly, the curtain is not quite centered on open. I guess the timing is off. Per other post I set the tension at 5 turns and everthing works, but the curtain is not centered when on (0)..Russ |

Top gear is off one tooth. This is covered in the service manual. Take the panel off and turn the top shutter roller so that the gear enguages in the next notch, and reassemble and check again.
Correct tension is when on setting of
"O" triping shutter results in curtain closing and just latching.

oops,
sorry, I read as off center meaning to one side. So probably confused issue.
However, shutter stops after Zero on glue joint. There is no latch at that point. So I am curious what that meant. The proper positioning of the curtain aperture at Zero places the flash synch contact on centerline of the film plane I believe, just past the fixed contact strips in the bakelite insulator guides. This places the upper edge (metal reinforcement strip) of the Zero window 7/32" above the rounded sheetmetal rub bar and the bottom of the window should be at the bottom of the lower roller(I can take one apart and email a couple photos if it will help). Also check that Zero appears properly aligned in the view window on both fast and slow setting(some only have "0" for fast speed). If not, the mechanism needs to be removed again and wound around until it lines up and then the roller gearing can be re-engaged with the Zero window in place as per above and then the spring tension setting can be readjusted. |

Thanks both of you I have fixed it, and got it out of the film plane. Took all the tension off and gently lifted up the top end and rolled up the curtain then reset tension, but it seemed too get it to work right it took a lot more that than 5 turns. The curtain was about 1/4 inch into the film plane. I think it does have something to do with being off a tooth. I do not plan to use it just wanted it to work, and not be in the film plane. Russ |

About 10 to 20 turns to achieve any shutter movement then an additional 4 to 8 is normal. Governor lever should be set to fast speeds not slow speeds.

Shutter set on T=film plane colsed to lens, Trip shutter=O= film plane open to lens for timed exposure; trip shutter=curtain closes and latches ending exposure.
