I've just noticed that there's a screw missing from the side of my front standard...I hope it's not too important.

Location: On the each side of the front standard there is an inverted V shaped metal support that allows the lens board to tilt at it's point. 1cm up from the base of the inside arm of the V supports there is a screw.

As far as I can figure out this screw has something to do with calibrating the vertical position of the front standard, but I'm not sure. Does anybody know? I'm missing the screw on one side of the standard. Thanks.

Yes, it is an eccentric on the inside, and the outside parts consist of a outer locking ring and the inner scre slot provides a way to turn the inner eccentric. You shouldn't experience too much problem only having the one. Just dont push the side that is missing beyond the existing stop and thereby adding a small amount of unwanted twist in the front standard. This is assuming the one stop is properly set.
