Hello everybody. I've read your site with interest for some time, and now as owner of a third Graflex camera I thought I should register! I've just bought a 4X5 Speed Graphic with a side mounted Kalart rangefinder because its top speed of 1/1000 is better for pictures of fast moving trains than the 1/400 on the Crown. My difficulty is this - when tensioning the FP shutter with the winding key my fingers foul the telescopic back sight of the rangefinder which is very close to it. Forgive my ignorance but do all Kalarts have this spring-loaded extended back sight and is it something I will just have to put up with.

You can remove it, if desired. The tube just unscrews from the rangefinder eyepiece.

Thanks Glenn
I was a bit wary of unscewing it as I didn't know what would be behind it. Actually rangefinder is clearer now without the extra optics.

You can use a Q Tip amd windex to clean the wincows in the tube and rangefinder.
Two type of extension tubes were used on the rangefinders, The two section spring loaded and most desirable that you have and a solid one the same length as the two section one.
