Looks like you will like this once you get the querks worked out with the camera body. Regarding the stops, if they are similar to those on the Graphics, they are pointed set screws and will pull themsleves into the old position if they fall on the edge of the old divets. There are a couple solutions. I have not seen your set up or how close the stops are to the old indents, but if only one falls on, tighten the one on clean rail first and perhps the other one that is causing problems just a littel to keep from backing out. As a maybe thought: Fill the indents with aluminum epoxy like Devcon, and then file very carefully with the proper tool (not my first choice). Or, the entire infinity location may be able to be relocated if one moves the coupling arm. This would be my first choice, but there may also be indents and location probelms encountered there where it attaches to the through body shaft. Also, things have a tendency to migrate when they're tightend because something like a set screw turns as it press against its seat; be sure this is not happening. Some may move a lot, or a very little, barely distinguishable with out a looking glass.
(note: If thinking about moving actuator coupling arm, check on the level of patience available in the tank. Suggest not doing unless more than half full.)
regards,

Thanks for the suggestions. It occurs to me that I can move the stop to the other rail, which is clean, but it seems to be holding for now, so if it doesn't cause any more trouble, I'll leave well enough alone. |

| David, does your camera have only one infinity stop? There should be two; it takes two to avoid small unintended swings.

As best I can tell, it's only ever had one stop. There are no marks on the other rail.
Two would be better, of course, though the likelihood of finding a second stop for a Pressman C seems slim (except maybe in this crowd--send me a Private Message, if someone's got a spare!).
Since the camera doesn't fully close with the Xenotar anyway, I can just leave it set up this way, and the stops might not be absolutely vital. |

David,
I am not familliar with these cameras, but with the Century and Speed 2x3's, the Standard is quite self squaring if one presses the standard to one side, low down with the thumb, and maybe wiggling a little to make sure it is in its sweet spot and then locking. This is what I do when switch ing lenses for GG focussing. Seems to work pretty good so far on five or six of these Graphics for quick set up. Wiggel the thing around and see if it has this possibility.

| Stephen, my two 2x3s don't behave like yours. For lenses that make infinity where there are no infinity stops, I use a fixture shaped like an inverted top hat to square up the front standard. The narrow section is a tight fit between the bed rails.

OK, well I have diciplined my cameras well, and rarely do they need a time out or a spanking, but when they do, I use small General brand depth gauge square combo, #444. It works good for squaring pairs of stops, and the six inch steel rule removes for working on rail front to back allignment. While this tool works well, I am looking for something similar in a higher end quality.
Haven't found any need for a lazer collumator, that opperates in millionths yet, like i used to use when in precision assembly, but that would be taking things a bit far...
Stephen
PS, I had meant to say a couple of the Century and the Speed 23 I use, sorry, didn't mean to make it sound like all will do this, but it works for me quite well.

| That seems odd. IIRC, the 2x3 Pressman I was given years ago had two infinity stops. |
