I have read a lot on these pages before joining. I am still wondering why it has to be kept such a secret as to when which serial number was used.

But it isn't. Which serial number were you wondering about?

I too am curious about the dates of my Graflex cameras.

I have a Crown Graphic with a Kalart Focuspot and a serial number of 883464 and a Speed Graphic which came with with a Schneider-Krueznach 135/4.7 and a serial number of 836449.

Any dating information would be most appreciated.

Thank you very much. It's interesting to be making images with a couple of cameras that are 15-20 years older than I am.

So Mr. Gandolf...I have been asking for dates since last November (see Reflex section). I also listed a posting, asking if anyone knows of your whereabouts (out of concern I might add). So...1) please provide me with my dates in the Reflex section....2) Why is can't this data be disclosed for everyone to enjoy? After all, it doesn't appear that Mr. Rogers is EVER going to write his Graflex bible...there should be at least some additional reference!

Mr. Mose.

How much would you be willing to pay for a CD with lovely scans of each page from the original serial number book?

Mr. Gandolf,

I would be interested in purchasing a CD and assist in answering requests for dates. However, w/o any idea of what size "the book" is and how much labor is involved, I cannot place a value on this. Why don't you send me a private message and provide a dollar figure. Thanks!

Regards,

JP Mose

I see by your excitement that you would be willing to pay for a copy of the book, exactly how much could be determined later. So to you and I'm sure many of the other viewer of this post, this book has value, and once posted on the internet all value is lost.

When I was given this copy, it was under the restrictions that I could not publish it, in whole or in part, nor divulge who the true owner is for he did not want to be bombarded with questions and requests. But I was given permission to answer owner's questions as to when, to the best of the book's ability, their camera was made. Which is what I do from time to time.
It is at this time I must apologise that I have not frequented the Reflex forum as much as I should and will be answering your questions shortly.
Perhaps in the future, the owner will have a change of heart, or find a viable way of distributing the data, until then we must carry on as we are.
As to Mr. Rogers. I was not aware that Mr. Rogers, Mr. McFeeley or the rest of the Neighborhood was interested in cameras and I seriously doubt they will be publishing any book in Graphics in the near future, but I share your pessimism about Mr. Adams' book. He was nearly finished with the book when I met him 20+ years ago.

I suspect this is my longest post and I fear I may have said too much already, so I must bid you good day.

And besides... If "The BOOK" was ever made public, it would just ruin all the fun and remove all the mystique behind it.

I know some people may find it aggravating. But I thouroughly enjoy it all. It's part of "Graflex"; the owning, collecting, hobby, community, etc... I would really hate to see this part of it disappear...

Just my opinion...
