I would like to replace the GG with a Satin Snow, but I cannot figure out how to remove the old one. I don't seen any screws or other fasteners. How do you remove it? |

remove the pop-up ground-glass cover/hood and you'll see the metal bracket that holds the hood in place also holds the glass in place with 4 (two on each side) small screws.

Which model of camera do you have, if it is a crown and has the removable back, as Les said, it will have two clips with two screws each, if it is a pre-anni, with the flip up hood, there will be 4 screws on each side, that have a thin brass plate that runs down the sides and installs over the curtains on the side. Also, I have the measurements for virtually all of the graphic cameras, so you just need to let me know what model and if you want clipped corners.

I forgot to mention, I have the Speed Graphic 6x9 cm. I don't see any screws.

If you have the early model with the cloth curtains on each side of the pop up hood, look on the outside edge of the curtain, where it attaches to the focus panel. There are four tiny screws on each side. If you have the later Pacemaker model, remove the pop up hood and you will see a clip on each side with two little screws each. If your ground glass is missing, there is a likelyhood that the retaining hardware could be missing, too. It's easy to tell the difference in the models. The early focus panel is wood. The later panel is cast metal.

Thanks for the website. It seems different from the Beattie which I use for other formats. It's a lot cheaper though. I've passed the link on to others who might be intersted.
Anything must be better than what I'm using at the minute.
How do I know if the thickness of the Satinsnow matches that of the camera I have? |

Ground glass is Standard Single Pane glass 1/8 inch thick. I've never used the Beattie so I can not compare/contrast the two.
A satin snow on my 8x10 will allow me to A). focus a f4.5 without a darkcloth if the ground glass is in light shade, B). focus a f12 Wollensak Extreme Wide Angle with dark cloth easily.
