I just bought one of these military cameras with green leather in perfect in condition no scratches/wear(even over the open button), back metal in olive drab with black paint scrapped off and gnarly white residue/oxide in a few places, trim paint around front of camera worn, all interior parts black, lens board & all, lens clear & no fungus & no scratches, lens shutter seems good, focal plane shutter intact & working but very, very sluggish, bellows in perfect condition, very musty, old smell inside front... Appears to be a differently colored Pacemaker, but wondered what you guys can tell me about this camera, re: it's heritage.

Also starting complete functional & cosmetic restoration & need advice concerning specifications, clean/lube & adjust methods & paints/enamels appropriate for these metals. Also, any metal referbishing-cleaning tricks you guys may know.

Download the Top RF Pacemaker Service Manual at http://www.southbristolviews.com/ or purchase a Side RF Service Manual from http://www.craigcamera.com . Only difference between top and side Pacemakers is the RF (rangefinder).
White powder in a few places is the Magnesium corroding, brush off with a brass brush and repaint.
A drop of light machine oil on the ends of the FPS rollers may be all it needs to start running correctly.
The service manual has complete instructions.
If you take the back off the camera 1. pay attention to what
screw came out of which hole, they are different sizes and 2. The FPS curtain is exposed and easily damaged if not careful, gear side ends of rollers are easier to access with the back removed.
Under the leather is some very dry mahogany!
