Hello,

I just bought a nice Crown Graphic, with some great accessories. I would like to know the date it was manufactured. Serial number is 445232. Gandolf?

Thanks,
Joe

Where is Gandalf these days? He doesn't seem to check in as frequently as he was in days gone by.
Does anyone else have serial number information available?

See my response to SOBAHGUY on the preceeding post for the source and limitations of the data.

From McKewon's, serial 351,512 ~ 457,139 runs from 7-30-45 through 1947.

As you have a Crown, that makes it an early Pacemaker. Call it 1947 for your camera.

So do you mean all of the crown are made in 1947 or before?

No. The Crown was part of the Pacemaker line that was introduced in 1947. Before that was the Anniversary Speed Graphic, without a focal plane-less sibling.

My last Crown, that just went to a new home was made in 1969, so they continued them for a long time after they were introduced.

Perhaps read up on the site here as there is a lot of info and interesting articles on the cameras and thier history. THe models history and products listing pages will give you a good idea of the production runs for certain models all the formats and accesories...
Have fun...

Thanks for the date information! I suspected, judging by other posts and their serial numbers, that mine was older, and even that it was a Pacemaker Crown Graphic, but appreciate the specifics. What I would really like to know is all the places this camera has been since 1947 (making it slightly older than me!) and who the owners were!!

Joe
