I have an old Crown with side mounted kalart that that came to me without a lens. I read off the scales on the rangefinder and according to a chart for kalart scale adjustments, the lens should have been a 150mm. I found a cross reference chart for lenses and the only 150 listed was a Schneider Xenar. I thought tho that there might have been a 152mm lens. Does anyone know. My camera was apparently built in the period between 1947 and the change over to the top mounted rangefinder sometime in 55. I was going to adjust the kalart for a 203 lens, but figure, what the hell, match the lens to the kalart since it's already setup. I also have another working Crown, so I can use the 203 there.
So the question is, was there any other 150's or close to that manufactured? I know setbacks can vary in the same focal length, so I'm just trying to get close without going thru a big adjustment procedure. |

There was a 152mm f/4.5 Ektar for 4x5 that should be a very nice lens if you can find one.
There was a 152mm f/6.8 Golden dagor which would also be a very nice lens, if you could afford it, if you could find it
There's a Wollensack Velostigmat Series II 152mm f/4.5...
And I'm sure quite a few more... If it were me, I'd look for the Ektar and grab a Dagor if it were reasonable...

| If you're not hung up on having a lens that's contemporary with your camera, look for a nice 150/5.6 Symmar or Sironar.
Good luck, have fun,

A 152mm Ektar lens is mentioned in the 10th ed. of "Graphic Graflex Photography," p. 31. BTW, 152mm = 6 inches, more or less (5.98+)

So, it looks as if there were two lenses available thru the manufactuer for the body. I wouldn't doubt that the 152 Ektar was the primary lens offered, and the Schneider was an option. |
