There were actually more than two f stop systems. If you can get your hands on a copy of Graphic Graflex Photography, 1947 edition, in there somewhere is a table that gives the relationship between the different systems. If I get time, I'll look for it in my copy. For all practical purposes, if you use f:18 as 16, then progress either way from there using modern equivelents, you will be just fine.

I'm not sure right now, but I think my oldest edition is newer, number 8 (can't even remember the printing now?). The first edition that mantions the pacemakers... Newer than '47 though...
I do have a chart I found "out there" from 'Photo Miniature, Vol1, No 1, April 1899' that has six different f-stop scales including the modern one and the old original Goerz one. But none of them match this shutter... Or should I say, ooops!!!
I'm not sure now. The "US System" is 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256'. The first column marked "f/" starts at 3.16...
The equivents to the 'US System" are;
f/=US
4=1
5.66=2
8=4
11.13=8
16=16
22.6=32
32=64
45.2=128
64=256
So, is that the old US system? And what is the column marks 'f/'???
Maybe it's time to just give up?

Rich, it's been a long time but I finally ran across one of the f/stop conversion tables in Graflex book. It is on page 25 of the 1947 edition and lists 3 systems - U.S., English and Continental (European?). If you can't find it in your book, post back and I will get some figures to you and see if that helps.

Thanks Glenn...
Yep, that chart is in both my 8th edition and the military version (no edition, but printed in 1950).
Sometimes it's hard to keep track of where all this info is

Rich, Zeiss and Goerz had their own systems, too. I have those here somewhere but may take a long time to find them. This information never seems to be in the index of a book. Just stuck in there somewhere, making it very hard to find.
