Hello,

is there anybody who knows if the 22.5V batteries for the Super Graphic are available
as rechargeables as well (where can I get
them incl. a charger)?

Thanks for a reply - trailer12

I can't say with 100% certainty, but the chance of making a 22.5 volt rechargable battery in that size is pretty slim. Especially considering the demand for one. Just be thankful that the old battery types are still available (from mpex)...

Even with frequent use in the Super Graphic, the 22.5v carbon-based batteries seem to last two years. They last five years if you take them out of the camera when you're not using it and put them in a zip-lock bag and into the refrigerator.
There must be a very slight drain on the cells to keep the capacitor charged.

I often thought of finding smaller 12-volt cells (like my garage door opener uses) and putting them in series and building a special adapter to do the trick. I was concerned that 12x4 or 48v would be too much voltage vs. the 45v that the two 22.5v cells in series generate.

I hunted high and low to see who sold regular 22.5 volt batteries that would work in my SG and how much they would cost. I never found (or would have expected to find) rechargeable ones. I think you’re stuck with regular ones – I’ve had mine for a year and they are still working. RadioShack.com has a good price on them and quick shipping.

I would venture to guess that you will not find a chargeable version of these batteries. Outside of special applications (i.e. for the Graflex), the only other use for these batteries (to my knowledge) is for the older VOM (volt ohm meters) and similar test equipment.

I went down this road too. With all the high tech batteries on the market now I thought I could do better than anemic carbon batteries. but the new batteries just can't get the voltage per cubic inch that carbon batteries can.

I could get a 1400mAh 45v NiMh battery, but it would be too big for the case, and if I built it up from button cells, it would fit, but have less capacity than the carbon batteries.
