I have come across this lens in a old C.P. Goerz AM catalogue posted on the Net.
The catalogue seems to be rather optimistic in describing the coverage of the lenses,
I am wondering if as they are a uncemented quadruplet their coverage is akin to the Celor or the Artar? |

The Vade Mecum is a little vaguer than usual about the Syntor, but from it I gather that it is comparable to the Celor. The VM almost lumps them, in one place says that the Celor (and I gather, but am not as sure as I'd like to be, the Syntor too) covers 60-70 degrees at an unspecified aperture.
There's now one on eBay. Buy it, try it, and report back.

I don't quite know what the truth about coverage of the CP Goerz lenses was but the figures seem very optimistic.
The Syntor looks very much like the Celor, except for the shape of the elements around the edges. The Syntor is of course a good deal slower than the Celor. I was wondering whether they traded speed for coverage and whether the Syntor would give better coverage than the Celor.
The Celor and Syntor are Dialytes?
Don't they have very narrow coverage - approx 50 degrees?
I came across this when I was looking atr a 163mm Rodenstock Eurynar many moons ago.
You need a focal length greater than the diagonal measurement of the format? |

Hmm. 50 degrees is about normal for a normal lens. If you want movements, you want a lens with more coverage. But these old crocks were used on folding plate cameras ...
As for dialytes, how about the TT&H Series IIb Aviar? They've been sold as normal lenses.
