After several months, my Ektar lens is finally repaired and it couples with the Century Graphic well. I didn't have the foresight to check that the Century had a built in rangefinder. It's not going to turn up (in my favour) so I thought a 1:2 ratio sports finder for the Century would enable me to use this more flexibly than tripod mounting and using the Graflok back.

I wonder if anyone's tried anything like this; I can't imagine it wasn't a standard accessory in the 1950's press photographers' repertoire.

Have coat hanger and pair of pliers; any ideas how?

Are you sure there isn't a pop-up wire finder hidden in the front standard? There was one in my Century's until I removed it to allow more rise with a 65/6.8 Raptar.

Cheers,

Dan

Hi Dan,

I must've bought a Century Graflex with almost everything missing and didn't realise; no sports finder; no handle (that fell apart almost immediately) and out of warranty by 50 years.

The Plaubel Makina I use have a wire finder and is 6x9cm; I was thinking of copying the rectangular frame guide and using a metal lollipop for the centre spot. I can't see where to hinge anything though.

Having toiled at snail's pace over this project, I'm determined to get an image out of this camera even if it hurts (it's hurting!)
