I need to source a replacement tripod bush (the bit that the tripod screws into!!) for my Crown Graphic. The thread on my camera is completely stripped.
Anyone have one that they can sell to me or know where I can get one from?
Cheers

Parts for "Graphic" cameras can be difficult to find, and it would be a shame to cannibalize an entire body for the tripod socket!
I haven't looked closely enough at a "Crown" to see how the tripod socket is joined to the body, but in principle, it seems to me that you might be able to adapt a common 1/4 in. x 20 t.p.i. "T-Nut" for the purpose. With the United Kingdom now on the metric system, these may not be available in every hardware store, but it would be worth asking around. They're all over the place on this side of the Atlantic, but the cost of mailing such a thing to you would be about ten times its purchase price! |

I am sure you are referring to the bush on the bottom of the camera; do not overlook that the camera has a second bush under the hand strap (for verticals). You can mount the camera on the tripod with the side bush and hopefully your tripod head has sufficient movement to return the camera to horizontal.
Even if you get the part, significant disassembly is required as I believe the bush is inserted from the inside, under the bed platform.
I do not know if the part for the side and bottom bush is the same; they may be and that would give you one source for your replacement if you absolutely have to have a good bush in the bottom.

Simon,
Go to:
http://www.southbristolviews.com/
Download the Top RF pacemaker service manual.
On page 36 is the tripod socket and NO part number is listed. The instructions for bed removal/installation will cover the socket repalcement.
Now form the picture on page 36 it appears to be a hex head socket. I sell round head sockets with 3 holes for small screws at work and the press into wood type with 3 spikes. The round type could be adapted to fit. If you would like for me to send you one we can work out the details off site.
Charles

Panic over!!
Thanks for all the help, but I've fitted a tripod bush from an old Hasselblad 500C onto my Graphic - it works a treat! Just had to make the hole in the body a bit bigger and my Crown is good to go!
Cheers
