I am interested in a newer lens to use on my 2x3 Graphics and the local shop has an interesting little Nikkor 105mm in good condition in a Copal 0 shutter.
Anyone know or had any experience relationg to this lens. It is fast at f-3.5 and for my puroposes stops down to f-45.
The asking price is about $275.00
Anyway, any info would be helpful.

The new 5.6 model at B&H looks similar but is definately a bit slower. THe Copal shutter is quite similar in its design.
However, the USA model sells for 529.95! The store has a thirty day warranty so I assume I can test it quite thouroughly. The shutter worked excellent and only the glass looked to need a careful cleaning with no scrathing or haze. I would look more closely if I go back with more interest. From what I can gather this is a medium format lens intended for 6x9 field cameras. That is what i want it for.

I did a quick search and could not find a listing for a Nikon or Nikor 105mm f3.5. This may be a remount with an incorrect aperture scale. FWIW.

The only listings in the book for Nikkor lenses in 105 are:

Nikkor-W 105mm f/5.6 for 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 153mm@f22 image circle with a 52mm filter thread.

Nikkor M 105mm f/9 for 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 110mm@f22 image circle with a 40.5 filter thread.

Nothing else listed...

Any chance someone has had some experience with the Nikkor 105 f5.6?

If you ask on the largeformat website I'm sure some have used it. Badger sells the F/5.6 for $450. I always figure a used shutter needs at least a CLA.

Nikon claims the F/5.6 is for 2x3. Coverage is only 155mm not exactly a great amount of coverage for 4x5.

Thanks Dan for indentifying the lens. I would not bother with it for 4x5. I would use it on one of my Century Graphics, hand held and supported. Thus the attraction to the wide range of speeds offered by such a lens. THus I am also looking at the Xenotars. A friend has a connection at the shop and will be checking on the pricing.
The unit had both of its Nikkor squeeze lens caps and the shutter worked very well. I need to clean the glass and look at it again more seriously later this week.

I think if you look up the Marshall Press, a rangefinder/rollfilm camera roughly similar in concept to the Mamiya Press, you will see an f3.5 105 mm Nikkor furnished as the manufacturer's original equipment. I believe this camera was available in the late sixties, early seventies -- I never saw a new one. This was a Tessar-type formula, single-coated, in a sync shutter, with a good reputation. The body was a 56x72 design, I believe, and if you wanted the lens to cover a 56x90 film, you might think twice. You would want to stop a tessar of this focal length down to 16 or so to get the corners.
