I have two shutters on two lenses that Grimes people say are not economically repairable. The shutters are Flash Supermatic and an older Compur by Deckel. Both lenses are in very good shape. I sent the two to be CLA'd, and Monday got this above reply. They claim that they are sending out the lenses to a sub-contractor. I did not like the sound of this. Who else is available? Both of these lenses are in good shape, and do not look as though they were abused.

Hello,
you might try Paul Ebel at Lens Services. I hear that he's good and relatively inexpensive.

I have not yet used her services, but have heard good reviews of Carol Miller's work. 652-696-0759. She is at Flutot's Camera Repair in Whittier, California.

I sent SK Grimes an air-braked Compound shutter recently, and they did a fine job with it.

I've also had consistently good service from Frank Marshman (a little slow at busy times of the year, but always good work at a fair price) at CameraWiz in Harrisonburg, VA. His number is 1-800-471-8133. He'll also stand by his work, if something isn't quite right, and will take a second look at no charge usually, and won't charge you for something he can't fix, even if he's put some time into it.
