I have a miniature Speed with Graphex shutter and 101mm lens. I would like to find a shutter/lens combination with built in flash synch that will work with electronic flash. I see plenty of Graphex and Flash Supermatic shutters for the larger lenses (127/135mm) but not for these smaller cameras.
Does such a thing exist? Am I lucky enough that this lens would screw into a Copal 0 (I'm never that lucky).

The "Century" I bought, used, in 1960 came with a 101mm. f:4.5 "Ektar" in "Synchro-Rapid 800" shutter, and I've often seen the same lens in a "Flash Supermatic." The lens supplied on a miniature "Pacemaker Speed" I got about 15 years ago came with a 101mm. Wollensak lens in full-synch "Rapax." Both offer X and M synchronization.
I think pretty nearly every shutter made for the lenses commonly used on 4x5 cameras was also made, one size smaller, for the lenses usually installed on 2¼x3¼. In both formats, the earlier ones tended not to have full synch while the later ones increasingly had it.
There also are quite a few 105mm. "Xenar" and (I think) "Tessar" lenses in "Synchro-Compur" shutters out there. If worse comes to worst, think of all the 1950s rollfilm cameras making 2¼x3¼ negatives and fitted with four-inch lenses in synchro shutters. If worse came to worst, surely you could scavenge something off a Kodak "Tourist" or any of 20 similar cameras. Flash synch was a lot more prevalent on that kind of camera than coupled rangefinders ever were! |

I'm sure that someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the later Flash Supermatic shutters will work with electronic flash. The givaway is a resistor wired into the synch circiut.
Anyone care to comment?

| Worst case would be to buy a new lens. Won't something like the Nikon 105mm fit? Copal #0 shutter. Unfortunately not the cheapest solution. If you watch KEH you might find something for less money. 100 to 105mm isn't the most common modern length but if your patient it should be possible to find something. |

??? I have two (2) 101/4.5 Ektars and an 80/6.3 Wide Field Ektar, all are in Supermatics with at least "X" sync. I've seen 101/4.5 Optars and Raptars in Graphex/Rapax shutters with at least "X" sync, the 65/6.8 Raptar I used to have was in a Rapax with sync.
You lens' cells won't go into any of the modern shutter sizes, and yes I have #00, #0, and #1 shutters on hand. Your cells are much too small for #1, you're not that lucky.
I use lenses in #00, #0, and #1 shutters on 2x3 Graphics. My #00s are several vintages of Compur and Prontor Press. My #0s are Copal and a couple of Compurs. #1s are ex-Polaroid MP-4 Copal Press and regular cock and shoot Copal. I use the #1s for front-mounted lenses. Putting cock-and-shoot #1 on my 2x3 Pacemaker Speed is a bother, it interferes with the front shutter tripper but not badly enough to make putting board and shutter on the front standard impossible.
I take it you have a Mini, not a 2x3 Pacemaker, with a really ancient Graphex. You might just look for a newer 101/4.5 in a newer shutter with sync.

Yes, this is an older mini - contemporary of the Anniversary, not a Pacemaker.
