Hello,

A laptop backpack seems to be the way to go for portability in the field.

Can anyone recommend a good laptop backpack (with pockets for accessories, film packs)for use with the Speed Graphic? Most of these packs have a 2 or 2.5 inch limit on the width of a typical laptop, I wonder if this presents a problem with the obviously wider (thicker) camera?

Thanks!

Emil

I use the square water proof lunch boxes, they are covered with nylon on the outside and have a plastic inner liner and the ones I have also have belt loops that attach to my pack frame with no problems, in addition they have high density foam rubber inside them so they hold there shape, the couple that I have, cost less than $10.00 and I can fit a Crown, 4 film holders and an extra lens in a small case in the front pocket as well as a notepad and an exposure meter, makes quite a nice little package.

If we're expanding the discussion to non-laptop bags I was looking at a small carry on bag the other day. It was in the luggage section of the local Walmart. From the quick look I gave it putting a press camera or anything smaller in it would be very doable. Along with quite a bit of other stuff. The only thing that won't fit is the tripod. Less then $20 Canadian. I guess that's about $15US.

A big space for the camera etc. Some outside pockets for smaller stuff.

It should also not scream "Steal me!" like a laptop bag might.
