Hi Everybody!!!
I have an Urgent question!!!
I found an interesting item!!
It's a NOVAR Anastigmat 105mm VELIO.
I can't find any info about this Lens.

Can anyone tell me something about it??
It is a good Lens???
Will it fit my 4 x 5" Format???

I Hope anyone could help me, because I need to give an answer soon.

Thanks a lot!!!

Cheap triplet in cheap shutter, ok for 2x3 if stopped down. Came from a cheap 6x9 (= 2.25" x 3.25") camera. Won't cover 4x5.

There's a law of nature to the effect that there are NO inexpensive wide angle elses for formats larger than 35 mm.

Cheers,

Dan

The "Novar" seems to have been Zeiss's implementation of the famous "Cooke Anastigmat" design. In the prewar and immediate postwar years, model ranges of Zeiss and other German cameras that offered lower and higher cost alternatives often provided a "Novar" on the cheaper and a "Tessar" on the more expensive model.

I had an ancient Zeiss "Ikoflex" with 80mm. "Novar" when I was in college. It was a good picture-taker. I've not seen a 105mm., but would expect it to do well when used for the 2-1/4x3-1/4 format for which it was made. I'd expect its coverage to be rather narrower than a "Tessar" (or "Kodak Anastigmat," etc.).

It's nice to have someone that gives you light in these matters...

Now I got another lens on sight....

It's a WOLLENSAK 25cm Without shutter. It's says "For Graflex". I know that I must be anoying with all these questions, but...
Will this lens give me enough coverage for the 4 x 5 Format???

Thanks again!!!

Probably will cover 4x5. What is its maximum aperture?
