I just won a lens on ebay called a wollensak "tasope" 210mm f8 to add to my ultra-expensive lens collection for my 4X5 speed. I paid $10 for it. I've heard of Raptars and Velostigmats, but never a Tasope. Anybody out there ever hear of this critter? |

I for one wish you would rework your profile so we don't have to side scroll to read the post.

Not sure what you are seeing. My window is not full sized and the profile breaks to read the entire post without side scrolling.

Only post(s) on my system where side scrolling is needed. Profile/autor box is 1 1/4 screens wide, message box is 1/4 screen wide.
All of this users post are like this. Windows ME, IE 6.02 , 1024 x 728 screen.
The equipement line starts with Graphic /2.8 and ending in Anastigmat is border to border with the intrest line a close second. Mine and Les's only use the first 2/3rds.
And a search of the lens vade mecum came up zero=no entries for tasope.

That's funny. No problem here on Netscape 4.7 with my Mac G4. But I wonder how much control the user (poster) has on the profile format. I seem to remember (it's been a long time, I was one of the first to register for the "new" board) that you just enter the info and when the window is full it scrolls by you until suddenly it won't accept any more letters. Don't think there's a way to break lines/paragraphs.
On Netscape Communicator there's a preference button that lets you wrap lines to fit the window size. But occasionally a window will open on this board that I have to scroll across. Next time I visit, its wrapped. Maybe the gremlins are burping? |

What the heck, I might as well chime in too
I get the same problem here of a huge first column and a very small second column. I don't have to scroll to see it, but that depends a lot of resolution and font sizes. I'm running Mozilla 1.5 here on winME...
It looks like the problem is the line "/2.8/80Xenotar,4.5/100Kodak4X5Speed.127/4.7Ektar,6.3/162ZeissKodakAnastigmat". It has no spaces in it for the program to break the line, and apparently the program needs a space. If he would just insert a space in the middle of that line, it would pretty much fix it for everyone and at worse he'd lose one character if it has reached the size limit. And I posted the entire line here to see what would hapen. It shouldn't break in the message column either (remember the problem with long http:// links?), so we'll see who wins? Maybe both columns will be as large now and everyone will have to scoll to see them

Are you sure it's Tasope? Or is this perhaps a misspelling on the part of the seller? Or is that maybe a name on the shutter and not the lens?
I've seen tons of misspellings on eBay. My favorites are the Gerflex cameras I occasionally see. And Tassars. And the more subtle Voightlanders and Wollensacks. It's tough to do specific searches with so many "liberties" taken with spelling...
And just to continue the thread, your profile shoves everything to the right on my Mac/Safari, too. Inserting spaces between the slashes would make your profile easier to read, would fix the "breakages", and wouldn't distract us all from answering your question...

Thanks folks, I tuned up my profile. I added a few things to it a while ago, and for some reason it went strange. Shorter now.
By the way, it really is spelled "tasope" on the picture of the lens, however it's a 10.5 inch f8. I couldn't find anything on the web either. I'll post later after I receive it and test it out. |

I just did a search on Tasope and came up with a home [Yes I said home] process camera. Combine that with the F/8 speed and I'm guessing it's a process lens.
Supposedly the camera came from

Thanks for all the help folks. Man, you guys are really techie with the computerese. You sound a little like my brother (an engineer) who uses a Nikon D100. Way too many buttons and dials and stuff for me. We were out one afternoon shooting and he was complaining of a sticky shutter. There seemed to be a long lag between the time he pushed the release and when the shutter went off. He had the self timer on. Took him five minutes to figure out how to turn it off. Took us both five minutes to stop laughing. I keep telling him to use the PHD setting (Push Here Dummy). People look at his pics and say "Nice". They look at the 11X14's from my 4X5 speed and go "OOOOOO". Drives my brother nuts. Great fun. This is a great site. I really need to get back to it more often. Cheers! |

Received the lens. It really is a "Tasope" Trouble is, it came without a rear element!
The ebay seller cheerfully refunded my money. There really are a lot of good, honest sellers on ebay. I guess I've been lucky. |
