I didn't have any focus problems, or other technical faults, but it is big, heavy, and the thing sticks out a lot. But it works. Can't say about the film kinking, because I've always been using it running lots of film at once. It seems like your price is right, though, so I don't think I'd hesitate to buy it if I were you.
