silver plated brass--the silver was oxidized
as it was applied, giving it the off color,
non polished appearance!! It was sometimes
refered as a gunmetal finish! The process
is rather dangerous to apply, as it is the
old style caustic formulation! I have found
that grey engine block primer when baked on
looks very close--tho not authentic! Bert
