Age of my pacemaker and red button

Gentlemen,

I just bought a late (top viewfinder) pacemaker from a
friend and was hoping that you could answer a few
questions.

First what year is it carries serial #929724.

Second from reading everything on the site I have
figured out everything else (hadn't used one in 20
years) what is the red button on the left side of the
view finder for?
