OOh good question. I've seen it used two ways and neither had to do with blondes.
In old literature "depth of focus" and "depth of field" were synonomous.
While this isn't universal, most modern texts refer to depth of focus as the depth of acceptable sharpness at the film plane.
Or "depth of field" at the film plane.
