The good news is you have a couple of options,
one as Larry points out to use the 5" right angle adaptor which
works great or use one of the bulb adaptors pictured. Inside the
flash tube there are no threads per-sa only a spring loaded catch
ring. This allows you to pull the old bulbs out quickly and insert
a fresh bulb without, turning it in... Try it with an old light
bulb,works neat!!!!
Found the adaptor in a local camera shop here in Rochester, NOS
cost $2.50. Perhaps your area has an OLD camera shop with a
"goodie" box....
