I am a museum educator in Nashville, TN and we are
displaying a wonderful show, Weegee's World: Life,
Death, and the Human Drama. We have borrowed a Speed
Graphic from the local state museum and need help in
identifying the model and year. And if possible
helping me to "translate" it into visitor speak. Here
are the specs: (Please email me directly, rather than
post.)
The letters Speed Graphic are in italics, not like
the one Weegee is holding in the photo at
www.icp.org/weegee/index.html.
* Written on the lens..outside...F. Deckel
Muncher...Compur
* On the lens ridge....Tessen 1:45 f=13.50 m, Carl
zeiss, Nr. 2690492
The lens goes up to 1-200 and f-32.
On the side is a Kalkart synchronized range finder
and a graflex flash (shutter, battery, remote,
solenoid).
It does have a focal plane shutter, but I am not
sure which button changes it to it...there is
a lever that you can turn that says various letters...
OTAB...What do they mean?
The negative carrier syas 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 and I think it
is a Spring Back.
THANKS SO MUCH!
